About TASA
Our Story: Building Community Since 1979

The Turkish Association of South Australia (TASA) has been a cornerstone of the Turkish-Australian community for over four decades. Our journey began in 1979, born out of a desire to create a space where our heritage could thrive and our people could find support.
Resilience & Renewal
For over 40 years, TASA has been a constant presence. While the world changed around us, our mission remained the same. Like many organizations, we faced a quiet period during the global pandemic, but as soon as restrictions were lifted, our doors—and our hearts—opened once again. Today, TASA is more vibrant than ever, carrying forward the legacy of our founders into a new era.
Bridging the Generations

One of our core goals is ensuring that the “old culture” isn’t lost. We provide a space where our youth can learn traditions from their elders—whether it’s the strategy of a Tavla match, the nuances of the Turkish language, or the history of our people. We believe that by helping the new generation understand their roots, we help them build a stronger future.
An Inclusive & Active Community
TASA is built on the principle of “Help Each Other.” We are a member-driven organization, and we pride ourselves on being inclusive to everyone.
- Your Voice Matters: We don’t just organize events; we ask our members to shape them. We actively encourage everyone to suggest activities they want to see—whether it’s a cultural workshop, a sporting event, or a social dinner.
- Collective Spirit: If a member is in need or a new migrant is trying to find their feet, the TASA community is there to offer a helping hand.
